At what age can kids stay by themselves?

According to a child welfare agency in California:

Age	Stay alone?
0-6	Never
7-11	Possibly, for short periods.  The National SAFEKIDS campaign recommends that no child under 12 be left home alone.
12-13	Possibly (judge on a case-by-case basis), but not overnight
14+	Yes

Hotels with childcare facilities

1. Nevada law requires immunization records for kids going to a childcare facility, so bring them.
2. Most of these hotels are nowhere close to the Strip.
3. All the hotels below charge $9-10/hr., have a 5-hr. max., and close circa midnight.

   Sitters: 18+ yrs old, 3+yrs exp., background check, 1st Aid + CPR certified
   Licensed, bonded, & insured
3. Nanny's & Granny's, (702) 364-4700 • $20-40/hr depending on sitter exp.; 4hr min.
   Sitters:  18+ yrs. old, background check, most are CPR-certified

4. Care.com.  Avg. $11.25/hr. • Criminal background check available
   This is a database of local sitters, not an agency.  You browse the listings and choose a sitter yourself.  You can get a lot of info about each potential sitter from the website.  Some sitters work from their homes and can't sit for you at your hotel.
5. GymCats, (702) 566-1414 • $30/night 1st kid, $10 addl. kid • But a $31+ cab ride each way from the strip
   This recreation center offers a "Parents Night Out" one Saturday per month for kids 3+, where kids enjoy gymnastics, pizza, and a movie.  Though again, it's offered just one Saturday per month.
